Graphite bursting discs

In metal safety disks the bursting pressure generally declines with a rise in operating temperature. In DIABON safety disk series N, D and DV, however, the bursting pressure is affected only by temperatures above 50°C. The bursting behavior of our safety disk series F (250°C) and HT(300°C) is unaffected by any operating temperature.

On bursting, our safety disks instantly expose the entire pressure release aperture. This is due to the specific brittleness of the ceramic-like graphite material.

Series D

Three-part design consisting of a bursting membrane and a two-part holder, which is mounted between DIN or ANSI standard flanges.

-      Cost advantage, because holder can be reused
-      Suitable for vacuum operation

Series DV

Three-part design consisting of a bursting membrane made from DIABON graphite reinforced in the mounting area and a two-part holder made from stainless steel grade 1.4571 whose upper section rests on the lower section when assembled. This arrangement prevents distortion of the membrane.

-      Simple assembly, as no attention needs be paid to torque (with metal holder)
-      Cost advantage, because holder can be reused

Series N

Monoblock construction for direct mounting between DIN or ANSI standard flanges. Installation with the recess on
the pressure side ensures that the bursting membrane breaks away completely to expose the full pressure release
aperture.

- Universally usable safety disk for standard applications
- Suitable as a safeguard against overpressure and partial vacuum (series N I)
- Series N I 0.1 to 50 bar, series N II up to 80 bar

Series F

Monoblock construction for direct mounting between DIN or ANSI standard flanges. The non-resin-impregnated
disk is sealed against the pressure vessel interior by a sintered-on PFA coating.
- Bursting behavior unaffected by temperature
- Suitable for vacuum operation
- Suitable for food applications, no risk to health

Series HT

Monoblock construction. The inserted pressure disk ensures that the actual bursting pressure conforms closely to
the nominal value, even if this is relatively high. The unimpregnated disk is sealed off from the pressure vessel
interior by a SIGRAFLEX graphite foil or, on request, a PTFE film (films are not vacuumresistant).

- Bursting behavior unaffected by temperature
- Suitable for food applications, no risk to health
- Suitable for vacuum operation
- Series HT I 0.1 to 35 bar, series HT II up to 80 bar
