  Flame Arresters

  Detonation Flame Arrestor

Detonation flame arresters are in line types and are located within the process line.

In-line detonation flame arresters offer protection against high flame velocities, where the velocity is supersonic and is accompanied by a shock wave. Detonation flame arresters are designed and tested for overdriven (unstable) detonations where the flame speed exceeds the speed of sound and the explosion pressure is significantly higher than in a stable detonation. Therefore there are usually no restrictions on their location in the process line.

  Deflagration Flame Arrester

Deflagration flame arresters are available for both end of line and in line applications.
End of line flame arresters are located at the end of the pipe (with no piping after it) and are designed for protection against unconfined deflagrations.

End of line flame arresters can also be supplied endurance burn proof and this type of arrester is often used on storage tanks where long filling and thermal breathing can be present and the flow of the flammable mixture cannot be stopped.

In line deflagration flame arresters are located within the process line (with piping on both sides of it) and offer protection against low flame velocities (subsonic speeds). Deflagration arresters are usually located close to the source of ignition and within limits specified by the manufacturer.

Firebloc Series

The Firebloc is a combined flame arrester and pressure/vacuum valve that combines the latest endurance burn flame arresting technology with tank protection. The Firebloc will give maximum flame protection and will guard against tank rupture, tank collapse and also protect the environment from unplanned “fugitive” emissions.
